Introduction

Infinity Analytics is an intelligent ad hoc analysis, reporting and search tool that helps unlock the potential of an organisation's information resources by enabling them to perform searches across a wide variety of unconnected data sources located in any part of the enterprise. Depending on system configuration, it can be used to search for content across data sources as diverse as databases, content management systems, intranets, file servers, web servers or even the internet.

Analytics is a powerful reporting, indexing and search solution that combines elements of business analytics, search engine and data access technology. Due to the fact that it provides a common interface to all your corporate data sources, the need for you to have an understanding of all the different systems in which your data is stored, or the formats in which it is delivered, is removed. It also does away with the need for knowledge of query languages or specialist report writing skills, enabling fast access to all the information that you need to make the decisions that are pertinent to your role, and providing you with access to the capability to analyse, filter and assess the value, relevance and meaning of this information in the context of the decisions you have to make.

Anyone who has previously used a search engine to perform a search on the Internet will be familiar with the basic Analytics interface. Results are returned by typing a "natural language" word or phrase into the search field and clicking the Search button. More advanced searches can also be performed, such as fuzzy searches, proximity searches and Boolean filtering. These advanced searches enable you to create more focused lists of results.

Users also have the option to click on any value(s) they see on screen. Analytics will automatically build up the search criteria using these clicks and find the results.

Any queries and reports run by an end user are run against highly optimised Analytics indexes and not the original source systems. This not only ensures sub-second response times, but also means there is no additional load on the operational applications.

Depending on how your system has been set up you may be required to log in to Analytics before you can use it to perform any searches. Logging in identifies you to the system, enabling an interface that is customised for you to be presented, and the results returned by the searches that you perform to be tailored to your particular role within the organisation.
