Edit mode

This is the default mode when you access the Venn screen.

In this mode, the sets are configured with the required data. Click any set to edit the values used through the 'Create Set' pop-up window.

Note: When using Edit mode it is possible to move the Venn set labels but not the sets (colured circles) around the canvas.

Add a Single Set

• Fields (drop-down list): Select one of the available fields in the loaded index to display the associated values below. Selecting a value using its adjacent radio button the set will be created and you will be returned to the Venn canvas.

  Note: If there are fields that exist in your index but are not in the drop list of fields, please contact your Analytics administrator to make these available.

• List tab

  

  It displays the values in a list (only applies to numeric fields). Not specifying a range will create an open-ended range search. Click the checkbox next to the required field to load it as a set and return to Edit mode.

• Numbers tab

  

  Enter a range of numbers to the From and To textboxes. Not specifying a range will create an open-ended range search. Click Add To Selected then Set Value to add the range as a set.

• Dates tab

  

  You can provide a data range selection via a date picker. To use a single data value, use only the From data picker. To add a data range as a set, enter the required dates to the From and To date picker boxes. Click Add To Selected and then Set Value.

Add Multiple Sets

To add more than one set in a single selection, click the Multi Select option on the top right of the pop-up window.

Select a number of values by selecting their checkboxes and these values will appear in the 'Selected Values' panel. To remove a value from the 'Selected Values' panel, click its adjacent checkbox. The following actions are available:

• Click Create Multiple Sets: Separate the values into individual sets.
• Combine Into Set: Type a name in the Combined Set Name textbox and select one of the following:
  • Combine Into Set (OR): To combine the values into a single set with all of the values selected
  • Combine Into Set (AND): To combine the values into a single set with the only values that are shared across the different sets. If multiple values from the same field are selected, no values will be displayed.

  Note: A default name will be used if one has not been specified in the Combined Set Name field.

Add Saved Reports

On the 'Create Set' pop-up window, click Select Queries to select from a list of saved queries created from the currently loaded index.

Note: Only queries that have been saved against the index that you are using for the Venn will be shown. Venns will only run against a single index.

• Load an individual report by clicking its checkbox. The selection windows will be closed and the set will be added to the canvas.
• Load multiple reports by clicking Multi Select before clicking Select Queries. Once multiple reports have been selected, review the selections in the 'Selected Reports' tab and click the Add to Venn button to complete the process.

Add the Current Query

Venns do not behave in the same way as other areas of functionality within Analytics. Search terms in the Query bar and values in the Filter panel do not impact the numbers used in the Venn sets. However, it is possible to add a set that contains the data from the query specified in the Query bar.

In the 'Create Set' screen, click Add Current Query. Search terms and filter values will only affect the values in the individual set.
