Chatting with other Infinity users

Infinity users (with sufficient permissions) can chat with other Infinity users on the same site. Users can either initiate a chat with someone or respond to a chat notification in the Notifications Bar.

To initiate a chat, select the following menu options:

A chat pop-up window is displayed.

Start chat

Select an available user in one of the available tabs (My Team, Reporting Team, Supervisors or All Users) for starting a chat.

Respond to chat

To respond to chat, click the indicator in the Notifications Bar. The text on that indicator will be the name of the other person in the chat session.

In the following example there are two chats currently in session.

Clicking on either chat displays a chat window where you can send and receive chat messages.

Once you have either responded to or initiated a chat, a Chat Window will appear where you can view the conversation and type your reply. The Chat Window can be moved by clicking and dragging the header of the window and resized by clicking and dragging the resize handle at the bottom-right of the window.

Note: There is currently no way of blocking incoming chat messages.

Close chat

To close a chat, click the cross on the right of the chat indicator in the Notifications Bar. Closing a chat, however, merely closes the Chat Window and corresponding Chat Bar. The other person can still send messages.
